Toilet paper is a significant source of PFAS, according to a study published in Environmental Science & Technology Letters. The 6:2 diPAP compound was detected in 91% of toilet paper samples and has been linked to testicular function impairment. Toilet paper creates up to 80 parts of the diPAP per billion per person every year in wastewater. If even a small proportion transforms into PFOA, it could far exceed EPA limits. New manufacturing methods are needed to remove PFAS and their precursors from toilet paper.
