Sweatsuits and t-shirts, sweaters and hoodies have always been a staple of American fashion; they are elemental in the essential element of what defines the US. The versatility of these items is an extension of the culture that has come and gone since the onset of the white-collar job. Today, we wear our sweatsuits because they make us feel better, or because it’s cold outside and it makes us feel more protected. They serve a practical function as much as they do style.
However, there was a time when we didn’t need practical clothing; we had on sweatshirts and t-shirts, and that was enough. Today, with the global spread of the flu, we’ve learned that we don’t necessarily have to be dressed the same way in every town and city. A sweater and a pair of t-shirts aren’t necessarily the right choice any longer for most of us. And so the question becomes: has the Pandemic changed the way we dress?
Sweaters and hoodies have always been some of the most classic looks; they go with anything, from casual to formal. They are also some of the most universal. Hoodies can be worn in ways that t-shirts can’t; hoodies are the ultimate non-specific look. You can find hoodies for just about everything, which means that you can get your hands on some really great sweatshirts and t-shirts; hoodies are a great way to accessorize almost any outfit.
So the question becomes, has the Pandemic changed the way we wear t-shirts? It would be hard to say. The only way to know for sure is to ask yourself this: have you ever noticed how many different t-shirts there are out there? The sheer number of different brands and types can make it confusing to choose a tee. However, there are a few things to keep in mind when choosing your next t-shirt.
Brand – Hoodies have become big business, especially at the college and university level. Brand name t-shirts are a safe bet if you’re looking for a certain style or look. However, there are lots of brand named hoodies available as well, which gives you a lot of options as far as style and colouring goes.
Colour Choices – We’ve all seen hoodies and t-shirts with fluorescent colours; these are called pop colours, because they seem to go with anything. However, fluorescent colours are not always the best way to go; in general, the brighter the colours, the better they are for you. That said, there are plenty of options out there; if you’re not sure, then speak to a personal trainer or a fashion guru to help you find the best way for you to express yourself.
