The Biden administration will require patients to see a doctor in person before getting attention deficit disorder medication or addictive painkillers, in an attempt to reduce opioid abuse. Telehealth will still be allowed for common prescriptions, but for more powerful drugs, an in-person visit is necessary, with refills allowed over telehealth. The rule is set to be in place before the COVID-19 public health emergency expires.
