Who are the three Leaders in Behavioral Health named by Crain’s?

Crain’s Detroit Business has recognized three members of the Wayne State University School of Medicine faculty as 2023 Notable Leaders in Behavioral Health. Felicity Harper, Ph.D., Mary Morreale, M.D., and Carmen McIntyre León, M.D. were among the 42 leaders chosen based on their achievements in their field and community contributions. Dr. Harper, professor of Oncology, was recognized for collaborating with patient advocacy groups and leading the Cancer Intervention Strategic Research Initiative to reduce health disparities in underserved populations. Dr. Morreale, associate professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences, was praised for her compassionate care and support for patients on their cancer journeys, as well as her work with WSU medical students in assisting the homeless through Street Medicine. Dr. McIntyre León, assistant professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences, chief medical officer of the Michigan Department of Corrections, and interim chair of the Department of Neurosurgery, was recognized for her programs supporting imprisoned pregnant women and those dealing with substance use disorders. She has received numerous awards and recognition for her contributions to the field, including the 2020 Exemplary Psychiatrist Award from the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
